First off, congrats to good 'ole Marty Scorsese. Although I wasn't too keen of
The Departed, all I can say is that it was about damn time. I'm glad Mexican filmmaking got recognized, sad that
Babel got robbed, and confused that
Infernal Affairs was called a Japanese film (from Hong Kong, folks). A decent Oscar night, as far as Oscar nights go, I suppose...
Anyway, this shot was inspired by the genius of
Justin Ouellette. When I entered the photoblog scene in 2004, his work was what inspired me. He has an unbelievable talent in combining beautiful exposures, brilliant contrast, composition, humor, and awe to his photographs. And all shot exclusively on film - which I thought was nuts. Now film is what I adore. I've asked him numerous times: "How the hell do you get that...
look?" He never really does give me an answer, and he's probably sick of me asking, but at least he's made me passionate about film, and photography in general. Many thanks, Chromo. I owe you a beer...
